Linklaters is a global law firm that advises the world’s leading companies, financial institutions and governments on their most challenging transactions and assignments. Linklaters works seamlessly across jurisdictions on groundbreaking deals. We deliver outstanding results for major organisations, finding them answers to their most intricate and demanding legal projects, cases and transactions. We’re one of the leading law firms operating in the Asia Pacific region adopting a can-do approach to deliver outstanding results.
The firm
Our work is divided into three main areas – Corporate, Finance & Projects and Commercial. While many law firms have strengths in particular areas, we believe that we are equally strong across the full range of business law. This is one of the factors that makes Linklaters such a challenging and rewarding place to train as a lawyer.
There are over 2,500 lawyers at Linklaters, of whom around 500 are partners – with as many again employed in business support roles. We operate in 19 different countries with 26 offices.
Trainees
We recruit graduates mainly from those studying law.
The next step is the year-long Postgraduate Certificate in Law (PCLL) which all trainees have to complete before they begin their training contracts. If you are studying overseas you will have to complete the Pre Course conversion exams before studying for the PCLL, if you have any questions on these courses please email asiagraduates@linklaters.com.
The training contract itself is built around four six-month seats or placements. The seat system gives trainees front-line exposure to a range of practice areas. This develops versatile, well-rounded lawyers, but it also gives trainees a good idea of the kind of law they want to do when they qualify. There are also opportunities for overseas placements throughout the training contract.
Our culture
We are a firm that achieves exceptional things for clients, whilst creating a supportive community in which individuals are encouraged to be themselves. Ask anyone from Linklaters what they most enjoy about the firm, and the answer is usually the same: “it’s the people”.
Training with Linklaters means working alongside some of the world’s best lawyers on some of the world’s most challenging deals. We expect a lot of our graduate trainees, but the rewards – personal and professional as well as financial – are very high indeed.
